ROBERTO VALENZUELA - Locations, Posing, and Execution

This workshop will focus on understanding how to read, analyze, and breakdown any location to harness its maximum photographic potential.  Roberto Valenzuela will then show you how to finesse unlimited bride and groom poses, you can use at any location.  The workshop will wrap up with a unique individualized deliberate practice routine that will fine-tune and maintain your new skill set.  Photography, much like a musical instrument or a sport, is a craft that must be effectively practiced.  Simply putting in the years and pushing the shutter button thousands of times is not an effective way to master your craft.  This program is designed to teach you proven groundbreaking practicing techniques that will change the way you prepare for a job, and transform you into a fine-tuned and confident photographer. 

To summarize, Roberto Valenzuela’s workshop will focus on three main points:

1. Creating artistic and high-caliber photographs at ANY location;

2. Understand how to build poses following some key principles so that you never run out of posing ideas again;

3. Learn how to achieve mastery through deliberate practice at your own home and your own pace. 

There will be a portfolio review for the whole class.  From the portfolio review, Roberto will give you assignments to focus on during the photo shoots to tackle the weaknesses present in your current work or approach. 

The workshop will conclude with a review of the material covered and a question and answer session. 

Materials Needed:

1. Your gear, camera, flash, one or two lenses, reflector, (if you have a wireless transmitter for your flash, make sure to bring it);

2. Notebook & something to takes notes with;

3. 15 photos on a USB thumb drive containing 10 photos of couples you posed that you feel you need help on and 5 photos that you posed that you are very proud of.  Note for the 10 photos: it's very important to choose photos you really feel like you are not doing well on. It could be a posing problem or an expression problem. Just make sure they are photos of couples YOU posed. Please do NOT bring photojournalism photos since they are moments and did not require any direction from you.
